Kobalt didn’t just keep up with the rest of the cordless tool manufacturers, they stepped way ahead. Kobalt started with a brushless motor and then went a step further to a 24 volt battery. The reciprocating saw has a rubberized cover over the front of the saw like most of the high end saws. The saw feels really solid and the motor sounds strong. It should have enough power to handle any job. It is not a lightweight saw, long periods of single handed use will cause cramps. I like LED light and the adjustable blade guard. One downside, the blade is removed by flipping a plastic lever. I have never broken one, but I think a metal sliding blade lock is more fool proof.

I bought this to clear out about 15 cords of scrub oak. It’s a rockstar of a saw and worked like a complete champ. Smaller battery lasted around 20 minutes of constant cutting before needing another dose. Product doesn’t come with battery or charge. That cost me another 75 bucks, but really like the system. Great product.
