Makita XSR01PT 18-Volt X2 LXT 5.0Ah Lithium-Ion (36-Volt) Brushless Cordless Rear Handle 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw Kit
Makita, a pioneer in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless Rear Handle 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw (XSR01PT). It’s powered by two 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum performance and has an electronically controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18-Volt X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like cutting sheet and dimensional lumber that traditionally called for a corded saw. Best of all, users can remain in one battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18-Volt batteries with the XSR01PT as they use across the expansive Makita 18-Volt LXT cordless tool series. The XSR01PT has a long list of features for efficient cutting without the cord. Users of leading corded saws will appreciate the blade-left rear-handle design. The electronically controlled brushless motor delivers a full 5,100 RPM for efficient cutting. In internal testing, the XSR01PT made up to 558 crosscuts per charge in 2×4 SPF lumber using 2 fully-charged 5.0Ah batteries. Added features include a large 2-9/16 in. cutting capacity at 90 degree that will cut 3X lumber in a single pass and an electric brake for maximum productivity. The saw has a die-cast magnesium base and blade guard with die-cast aluminum blade cover and motor housing, which combines durability with less weight (only 12.4 lbs. with batteries). This thing is like having a well built and thought out luxury car in your hands! Between the ergonomics of the rear situated handle and the premium feel of the materials used to make this. I’d recommend this saw to anyone from the serious diy guy all the way up to the production framer. The beveling lever is smooth as well as the depth gauge. Cuts like a hot knife through butter, bye bye cords.

I have five sidewinders because that’s what I am used to. I decided to grab the deal because I wanted the 5A batteries and to try a long saw. Absolutely fabulous, sports car smooth, effortless, clean as a good table cut. Beautiful saw, 10 Stars!

Could not pass up the HD special deal on this one. Saw plus FOUR 5Ah batts and double-charger for $249. Incredible price that seduced me into buying both the rear-handle and sidewinder versions. Kept the RH and returned the sidewinder once I came to my senses. I’ve only used sidewinders and 18V cordless before this one, so this was an eye-opener in couple ways. (1) RH saw is more intuitive for righties, and it tracks and is much easier to control on longer rip cuts. (2) 36V motor is game changer – really does feel and sound like 15A corded power in hand. Batteries seem to last forever too. Main complaint re this saw is it does NOT have light or laser guide. Its made for pros. Really miss that rookie-assist feature on my little Ryobi. Otherwise this is a sweet and strong power tool. Cornerstone of my Makita 18V collection.

I am a Contractor, I purchased the rear handle saw by mistake. My intention was to purchase the top handle version of saws. With that said best mistake I made. This rear handle saw has a lot power, effortless cutting. I can cut 3 sheet of 3/4 in plywood at the same time so that really help with production. Yes the saw is a bit heavy but I feel the extra weight help with the performance of the saw. This saw has replaced the other saw I had on the truck,, it is a work horse period.
