This cordless hedger is worth it! Easily can trim heavy shrubs or bushes for an hour on a 5.0 battery and cuts 3/8″ branches with ease. Keep the cutters clean, sharp, and oiled and it will be a reliable tool for a long time!

With it’s long 30″ reach, light weight, crazy sharp blades and vibration free operation, this Makita 18-volt hedge trimmer is an absolute joy to use! Sometimes a thick branch will stop it momentarily, but if it should jam, all you need to do is hit reverse and you’re once again free and good to go. With a 5 aH battery, this thing goes on for a good amount of time. And what’s better than no noise and gas fumes from a stanky ol’ 2-stroker or the freedom from being tethered to a bunch of extension cords? My only complaint so far and one that I took off one star for is the terrible sheath they give you to protect the blades when not in use. The design is cheap, horrible and difficult to slip on. You have to try to maneuver it on with one hand while trying to balance the tool with the other and since the reach is 30″, that’s almost impossible. You’ll be tempted to grab it by the blades. Don’t. I also have a Makita split-shaft weed trimmer with an articulating hedge trimmer attachment. The sheath that comes with that one is so much better. Slips on with ease one-handed. Why is this one such a piece of garbage? Come on Makita! I know you can do better than this! I almost want to throw it away but don’t want to risk any damage to the cool new addition to my Makita OPE collection.
