   good air fryer for the buck. like others have said its a fan on top that blows hot air down and around the food, does seem to take a slight bit longer than other air fryers but for the price, its a huge air fryer and works great. plus i like how easy it is to clean vs other ones i’ve had.

   We have 2 air fryers that use a heating element over the cooking bin with a fairly powerful fan (Like most I have seen and used). This one uses a halogen lamp and a low power fan. We tried it out right away and it does work. We made some frozen fries. They came out nice and crispy. HOWEVER … it took much longer then the other heating element ones we have. That’s why I only gave this 4 stars instead of 5. The unit itself is a bit different. The top of the unit with the halogen lamp and fan sits above the cooking bin, IT DOES NOT LOCK ONTO IT. When you lift the handle, a small switch cuts the power and the top lifts off. There are 2 side guides that act as stands for the top and they fit into openings on the side of the cook bin to position it. That means all the cooking parts can be cleaned without any electrical components on them. It comes with a stand that keeps the provided small fry basket off the bottom of the cook bin. It also has a lifter for lifting the basket and/rack out of the bin. This utilizes a glass cover which allows you to see into the cooking bin and it is nice to see how what you are cooking is doing (??). One of the main reasons I bought this was the added spacing ring that adds about 2 inches to the depth of the cooking bin. We tried a small chicken in the bigger of our older air fryers and it was just too shallow. I will keep this for the sole purpose of cooking items that are a bit bigger. The slower cooking time is probably better for that type of cooking. Since the top with the lift handle does NOT lock onto the cooking bin, I made a strap that goes around the unit and keeps the top and lower bin together for transport using the lift up handle on the top. Our older air fryers will probably be used mostly and this one for that odd cooking job.
