Donny Darko –
You know how you are just going through life and you suddenly find something and you go “this is the greatest invention ever!”. I just had that moment today. I live on a decent size court with 11 houses on it and I usually go out there about this time of year and and start spraying the curb, sidewalk and up into everyones driveways with weed killer just to make our whole court look better when driving into it. This usually takes me a couple hours to do because I have to mix up 1 gallon containers over and over not to mention stopping and pumping it up over and over. By the end of the day I’m usually wiped out. Today I was able to mix up a 2 gallon batch of my favorite weed killer. Throw on a battery and away I went. It was so much easier to do that I got carried away and did almost the whole street you turn off of going into our court. If my wife hadn’t come out to talk to me I was going to do the next court over. This is by far my new favorite item. I no longer have to dread spraying the whole court for weeds. The battery is a 2 amp hour battery and I barely put a dent in its charge. I did my whole court in about 30 minutes when it used to take me a couple hours at least. This Ryobi One+ 18-Volt Lithium-Ion cordless 2 gallon sprayer is amazing! It comes to you ready to go. I thought maybe I was going to have to install o-rings and have a engineering major to put it together but all I had to do was tighten a few things together, throw on a battery, add 4 oz. of my favorite weed killer and 2 gallons of water and away I went. I started off using the shoulder strap on it but to be honest this sprayer has one small design flaw I’m surprised got past the Ryobi engineers. When wearing the tank with the shoulder strap over my left shoulder and the tank full of 2 gallons of weed killer my whole left side of my body got soaked from the hip down. It would seem that where the top of the unit (green part) attaches to the bottom (white part) there is no gasket or o-ring just a hard plastic lip that goes up about a 1/4″ inside the green part. This is not enough to stop the liquid from sloshing out when you mix a full 2 gallon batch of whatever you are using it for. In the future I will just mix up a 1.5 gallon batch of weed killer instead of a full 2 gallons and it should prevent this from happening. Once I was forced to hold it in my hand I actually liked it better then being on my shoulder anyways. Since water weighs about 8# to a gallon and having a two gallon tank weighing close to 18 to 20# hanging off your shoulder gets heavy quick. I liked using the sprayer best with the body of the sprayer in my left hand and the wand in my right hand. I was able to use my index finger to press the lever to dispense the week killer quite comfortably. I really like the fact that this sprayer came with an attached measuring cup and the battery and charger. I’m going to use this sprayer in another month or so to spray my concentrated bug killer and I’m actually looking forward to it ;o) I’m really impressed that Ryobi keeps coming out with new tools I can use all my One+ 18-volt batteries on.
