More power than I expected. Easily removes clean lug nuts even if torqued well over spec. Rust or damaged threads may present a challenge for the tool. Seems to tighten to aprox 50-60 ft.lbs. when reinstalling and not letting it impact more than a couple hits. Highly recommend if you use a lot of sockets and/or bit sockets. Beats breaking socket adapters. Would love to see an XTR version of this in the future. I do also have the XTR high torque which I also reccomend but admittedly only gets to come out and play if this one fails, again unless you’re messing with rust or damaged lugs is not often.

Someone had borrowed my finishing mower and taken the blades off to sharpen. Then they ran over a pile of rocks and messed a spindle and the blades up. They had over tighten them putting back on, and my Dad’s old impact he used on the dairy wouldn’t take them off. I looked at new air impact one, and read a couple of reviews and decided to get the Kobalt. I’ve already switched over to several others and didn’t have to buy a battery or charger. Anyway, the Kobalt had no trouble taking the bolts off of the finishing mower. Now with a new spindle, belt, and blades, it cuts like new.
